ONA May 2009 Meeting Minutes
- The meeting was called to order at 7pm by Bruce Lehman, president.
- The minutes of the prior meeting were approved as posted on the website. A suggestion was made to make minutes available by mail to those who do not have computer access. It was pointed out that the extra cost of postage would be prohibitive and could possibly be made available to members only by mail.
- Treasurer’s report was submitted and approved.
- Garage sale was discussed. It is scheduled for June 6 and will be held in conjunction with 7 surrounding neighborhoods, all membrs of PAPA.
- PAPA Area Festival was discussed. It will be held August 4, 5-7 pm at Packard Park – same date as Neighborhood Night Out.
- Neighborhood clean up and tire day was dicusssed. No date has been planned. There was some discussion about scheduling the ONA cleanup the same day as the Great American Clean up.
- John Haynes presented a program for “pre christmas tree sales” to be held in July to determine how many trees to pre-order, Incentives for pre-order were discussed. Sales of prior year were discussed.
- Discussion was held regarding the new layout of the newsletter.
- Membership perks were discussed. The Board will discuss at a later date.
- Combining newsletters with PAPA members was discussed. Fred Lanahan will bring this up at the next PAPA meeting.
- Change in turn lanes on Rudisill was discussed at some length. Accidents have increased as well as incidences of speeding since the lights are now timed for traffic flow. The Board will send a letter to the City regarding our concerns and ask the City to reinstate the turn signals. A suggestion was made for residents to email our councilman, call the Mayor’s office, send letters to newspaper editors, contact radio stations, etc. to voice our concern.
- Plant material discount at Broadview Florists for paid members was discussed. It was pointed out that other surrounding neighborhoods may be receiving more significant discounts.
- A discussion was held as to where future meetings will be held since Taylor University has closed. Casa’s on Fairfield, First Missionary Church, Fort Wayne Baptist Church, Redeemer Lutheran and Simpson United Methodist were presented as possible alternatives. The Board will explore our options. Notices will be posted on the meeting reminder signs to accommodate the June 15 and future meetings.
- Neighborhood Code Enforcement was discussed.
- No attendance was taken.
- The meeting was adjourned at 7:57pm.
