Old Business:
Someone asked why ONA memberships are down. Suggestions made included:
•    Door to door campaign (done in past)
•    Mention in newsletter (being done)
•    Place signs throughout neighborhood saying “Dues are due”
•    Do direct mailing with return envelope included
•    Mention Broadview Florist discount available to those whose dues are paid
•    Develop sheet of top five reasons to pay dues
•    Do direct mailing in March with door to door follow-up in April
•    Need to re-visit how newsletter is distributed
•    Work with other Associations in promoting Christmas tree sales, offer discounts, advertise, work through PAPA
•    Suggested ONA board, officers get copies of PAPA minutes
•    Postage going up in May. Need to keep newsletter minimal size
•    Some advantages of  joining ONA are: Dirt Day, Broadview Flowers discount, Dump Day, obtain discount on purchase of a ONA Christmas tree, neighborhood-wide garage sale, “It’s the right thing to do” since it helps ONA publish newsletter and cover other expenses

President Lehman promised to get cost of direct mailing vs. door to door campaign.

Treasurer John Neicter to check with West Central Neighborhood Assoc. to learn how they went about securing a 501C3, non-profit status.

VP Fred Lenahan announced:
•    a PAPA report stated that the Southwest quadrant of the City has the lowest crime rate
•    a petition is being circulated to erect a four-way stop at Home and South Wayne avenues
•    signs were reportedly posted warning that the traffic light at Fairfield and Rudisill has changed in the way it operates

President Lehman reported that the board and officers were submitting the following three requests in the CEDIT (County Economic Development Income Tax) report:
•    repair sidewalks on south side of the 400 block of French Ave.
•    install curbs on Dayton St. from Beaver to Fairfield avenues
•    resurface street in 100 block of Oakdale Dr. from Calhoun to Harrison streets

President Lehman said he will look into submitting a second CEDIT request since ONA is comprised of two districts – 5 and 6

New Business:

In discussing possible summer events, it was proposed to hold five block parties, beginning with Arlington (in Section 3) toward the end of May and ending with the final block party in September. ONA will work with City to block the respective street, furnish up to three tents and some paper products, and possible donate $100 to each section for their get-together.

It was questioned whether the ONA Meeting notification signs will need to be changed or updated someway if we should not be able to meet at Taylor University’s Cafeteria in the Kekionga Room. We should have an answer before the March membership meeting.

President Lehman announced there will be a Christmas party at Housers’ home – soon. — for the volunteers who worked the Christmas tree sales. ONA will furnish the liquid refreshments and attendees will bring a potluck supper.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:12 p.m.

Respectively submitted by
– Vince LaBarbera

There will be dirt available for members of Oakdale Association after May 2, 2008.  The sites for the dirt will be at the corner of Oakdale and Fairfield and at the corner of Indiana and Fairfield.  We are getting less this year because we didn’t use what we had last year and had to dispose of it.  Feel free to use any and all you want.  It is a first come first serve basis.
