ONA minutes June 15, 2009

- The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm by Bruce Lehman, President.
- Redeemer Lutheran Church is the new home for the ONA meetings.  Redeemer is located at the corner of Webster and Rudisill.
- Mailings of minutes to members was discussed.
- Minutes of the May meeting were approved as submitted.
- The Treasurer’s report was submitted and approved.
- Membership drive was discussed.  There are less members than last year at this time.  Membership drive deadline is September.  The drive has resulted in 50 new members so far.  There are 650 occupied homes in ONA.  Membership drive changes for 2010 were discussed along with benefits of membership and newsletter changes.
- Purchase of new signs for neighborhood events was discussed.
- Topic for discussion at the August 17 meeting will be the pre-Christmas tree sale.  The officers will meet in July to work out the details.  John Haynes gave his presentation on some of details.  The cost of the sale and advantages/disadvantages were discussed together with a proposed change in location of the tree sale.
- PAPA members met with Taylor University officials, city councilmembers and others to start the process of gathering input from the community regarding the Rudisill campus.  Guidelines were presented by Taylor for use of the facility.  The next meeting with Taylor is scheduled for June 29.  Buildings on the north side of the Rudisill campus were discussed.
- Anti-Graffiti Network donation was proposed.  A motion was presented and approved for the donation.
- PAPA initiatives were reviewed by Fred Lanahan:
- Garden on South Wayne Avenue
- Memorial to the past president of PAPA
- Garage sale costs.  ONA joined with PAPA neighborhoods for the June 6 sale.
- City fireworks restrictions were presented.
- Future plans for George’s Grocery store expansion on Fairfield were discussed.
- Future of the Duemling Clinic at Home and Fairfield was discussed.
- Neighborhood Code Enforcement activities were discussed.
- Dump Day for ONA will be scheduled for the fall.
- THERE WILL BE NO MEETING IN JULY.
- The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.

PAPA Area Festival – August 5th

The PAPA Area Festival is set to be held on August 5, 2008 to coincide with the National Night Out .  It will be at Packard park from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with hot dogs and chips for all who attend.

ONA Garage Sale Is Saturday, May 17th

It’s time to get all of your treasures ready for the annual ONA Garage Sale!  There will be an ad advertising our neighborhood-wide sale in the newspaper so get ready to open early and make some easy money while cleaning the clutter from your home.  Good luck and lets all hope for a sunny, rain-free day!
