ONA Monthly Meeting

1. Neighborhood Meeting Minutes were approved as written on the website
2. Appreciation was given to John Nichter for his service as treasurer to ONA
3. Re-zoning for George’s market was approved by City Council.
4. Pathfinders gave a presentation on helping people of low income to get down payments for buying homes.

“Pathfinders Community Connections” has helped 1,400 people to buy homes. They want to help neighborhoods revitalize and look to work from the inside out. Surveys will be taken about what is or isn’t working. Pathfinders hopes to have meetings/ surveys with residents and to become a source of information for working on problems and help neighborhoods get technical assistance for what you want to do.

Other plans include neighborhood engagement / bring information into Ft. Wayne Make Non profits stronger.

Vice President Fred Lanahan shared topics for a PAPA meeting that was held on November 18th with discussion about economic redevelopment of main arteries (Fairfield, Broadway, & Calhoun) as well as redevelopment of commercial activity within PAPA. Any proposals are greatly appreciated for the Jan. meeting of the PAPA group.

NEW BUSINESS
Discussion of bushes and fence on southeast corner at Dayton & Fairfield.
White Owl studio opening in the neighborhood.
Vessel House to be adopted for caring and joint fundraisers. They need gently used items.

ONA Minutes October 19, 2009

October 19 2009, 7PM
ONA Monthly Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7pm by president Bruce Lehman.

Announcements made were:
Financial statement was given by John Nichter. A motion was given & seconded to accept & approve financials.
Bruce introduced Phil Troyer who gave a presentation on the proposed renovations to georges. Phil introduced the current owners ( The Rongos) as well as the potential owner Bob Singh. Phil had a visual presentation on his laptop as well which was shared with all that wanted to see it.

Fred & Bob Schaab were introduced as PAPA president & Historic South Wayne Assoc. president. They instructed those present that 3×5 cards were going to be passed out & question could be written down & they would ask them as they were given to Tom T. Attendees were encouraged to remain respectful & courteous towards each other & the principals. It was stated that the presentation & questions were to close by 8 pm.

Phil answered approx. 20 questions as they were given to him with confidence & assurance that the best interest of the neighborhoods were taken into consideration & that the owners want to work with the neighborhoods.

As was stated at 8pm questions were stopped. Fred & Bob shared that PAPA had voted strongly in favor 5-2 in support of the renovation. Bob shared that as president of SWA & the assoc. that Georges is located, that they strongly support the renovation. Fred then welcomed & introduced 3 of our councilmen Tim Pape, Glynn Hines, & John Shoaff & gave them an opportunity to give there opinion of the renovation. Although they shared there opinions & concerns they would not commit 100% but appreciated being asked to attend & would carefully consider what was presented. Afew questions were asked of the councilmen & then meeting was adjourned at 8:35pm

Neighborhood Meeting Minutes

Attending: Above Board Members, Dick Fishering, Earl Bowley, Chris Vosmeier, Bob & Linda Hardin, Bill & Kris Cummins, Susan Stone, Joe -, Kate Black, Eillen Schlemmer, Paul & Kristine Lagemann, (several more)

Mention made of new signs to announce meetings, officers introduced, membership update and future use of contacting members via email.

Minutes approved.

Financial reports issued by John Nicter.  $ donated to Graffiti Network and new signs.

Discussion occurred about the group home at 421 Rudisill Blvd.  This is to be Residential Transitional Housing with a public hearing set for Thursday.  A motion was made and passed to allow the Board to share concerns in front of the Building Zone Committee.  The Board is not to show support in favor or against the Home, only address concerns.

Discussion occurred about George’s Int. Market renovation.  A representative is scheduled to attend the September meeting.  The owners had shared to Board members that they wanted to reinvest in the area and were open to being architecturally friendly.
A motion of moving forward to support the theory of having a convenience store and gas was given and passes.

Old Business:
-Traffic light at Fairfield and Rudisill was discussed and still aproblem
-Block parties are still desired
-Christmas Tree sale cancelled this year due to lack of finances, hope to hold in 2010
-Dump and Tire Day will happen this year
-Fred asked members in attendance to support train service through Fort Wayne by sending post cards to the Governor
-Would like to create an email list of members
-Reminder for Board members to pick up signs
-National Night Out event was held and successful.

ONA Minutes July 26, 2009

Board Meeting Minutes

Attending: Bruce Lehman, Brad Lehman, Fred Lanahan, John Nicter, John Henry, Tom Tiernon

Announcement: Tom Tiernon named as new Secretary

Discussion occurred regarding newsletter distribution.  Decision was made to have Board members distribute newsletters by hand.  No tabbing or folding is necessary.

Next Association meeting scheduled for August 17th.

Fred spoke about PAPA, neighborhood stabilization program and a possible finance member on the Board or realtor to be an advocate to purchase reconditioned homes.

National Night Out event with Papa to be held Tuesday August 4 from 6-8, volunteers needed.

South Side Rudisill Fest scheduled Saturday, August 8, 1-8.

Discussion occurred about buttons/ name tags for Board members delivering newsletters and attending meetings.  John N. will investigate.

Discussion occurred about George’s potential renovation at Packard & Fairfield.  Concern expressed about Christmas Tree lot.  George’s said that we could continue to use the property.  They hope to begin construction January 2010.

Bruce will begin to start electronic communication with the members.

We need volunteers for street festivals and dump day. 8-12

Discussion occurred about having the next home tour not include Arch to cut expenses.

Concern was shared about TUFW’s future use.
